These chips are super simple and quick to make and surprisingly the whole family (minus one really picky eater) ate them! All you need is some kale, oil like avocado or olive, and some salt and any additional spices that you desire. Make them sweet or savory or spicy, whichever you prefer.
Ingredients
1 bunch kale (curly or lacinato)
1–2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
Sea salt, to taste
Optional flavors (add after crisping if sensitive):
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Salt + cinnamon (surprisingly loved by some kids)
Prep (Important for Crispiness)
Wash kale and dry very well (this matters).
Remove thick stems.
Tear leaves into even, bite-size pieces.
Toss lightly with oil and salt — just enough to coat.
Air Fryer Method (Fastest)
Best for small batches
Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Place kale in a single layer (work in batches).
Air fry 4–6 minutes, shaking once halfway.
Remove when crisp but not browned.
If they soften after cooling, air fry 1–2 more minutes.
Oven Method (Great for Big Batches)
Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment.
Spread kale in a single layer.
Bake 18–25 minutes, flipping once halfway.
Remove when fully crisp and dry.
