Traveling with someone on the spectrum can bring extra challenges and uncertainty - but it is possible and incredibly rewarding! Planning ahead can help prepare both you and your traveling companion know what to expect and to be excited for.
Here is an example itinerary/S2C (Spelling to Communicate) lesson we used to prepare and plan for our summer adventures:
A good tip is to do research for the places you plan on visiting ahead of time to know the best hours to go for less crowds. Some places even provide sensory maps so you can make best use of your time there and avoid areas that could be too overwhelming. The National Museum of Scotland had an awesome sensory map that we brought along with us and hopefully more places will follow their lead for accessibility!
